Website Migration

The Communication and Brand Management (CBM)'s Web team website enhancement rollout is outlined in four phases:

Phase 1: Migration of EKU’s Most Visited Sites from Omni to WordPress (October 19-20, 2022)
Wednesday, October 19, 2022-Internal Soft Launch of Omni Platform Sites
CBM will launch a test site for our most visited web pages. These pages will be viewed by our internal EKU audiences only. The external world will see the current Omni “old” site. Please refrain from reporting website issues involving the test site to CBM or the IT Helpdesk from October 19-October 20, 2022.

These sites are:

  • Homepage
  • Admissions
  • Astronomy
  • Big E Central
  • Biology
  • CLASS
  • CSIT
  • Honors
  • Housing
  • Kentucky Center for Veterans Studies (KCVS)
  • Physics
  • Scholarships
  • STEM and STEM Center

Thursday, October 21, 2022-External Launch of Omni Platform Sites

CBM will launch the most visited web pages live to external audiences. The homepage will have a new look and feel but all other pages will look the same as they did on the old platform.

Phase 2: Migration of EKU’s Remaining Sites from Drupal to WordPress (November 2022-January 2023)
CBM will repeat the above process with the remaining web pages, first to the test platform and then live. We will provide a firm date as the time gets closer.

Phase 3: Launch of Intranet Site (Early 2023)
CBM will launch an intranet site with single sign-on to locate pages not for public consumption (ie: sections of Human Resources, Finance and Administration, etc.) behind the intranet wall.

Phase 4: Redesign of the EKU Website (Throughout 2023)
Each University website webmaster will work with an assigned CBM team member to partner to create the timline for the site as well as the redesigning each individual webpage. In preparation, EKU website owners and webmasters should be:

  • Reviewing the content on your pages to make sure the information is relevant and succinct;
  • Determining what needs to be deleted. Our goal is to reduce our web volume by 40%; and
  • Determining what needs to be moved to the intranet site.
