Branding FAQs

Can I create a custom logo for my department?

We ask that you work with the Department of Communications and Brand Management to create all custom graphics, especially if they will be public or student facing, such as social media profile photos, printed materials, apparel, swag items and office signage. All custom graphics must meet the guidelines set forth in EKU’s official Visual Identity Guide

The Department of Communications and Brand Management will be happy to create a complete, packaged institutional logo suite for you. An example can be seen below. Simply submit a project request at brand.eku.edu/project-request.

What are the official EKU colors?

The official EKU colors are maroon and white. It is important that the correct shade of maroon is used, and it isn’t lightened or darkened. These colors can be used on a gray or black background.

For specific HTML color codes, pantones and RGB values, view EKU’s official Visual Identity Guide.

Can I modify the EKU Logos?

The EKU logos should not be altered in any way. The logos should also always be used with adequate spacing around the logo. These rules apply to all EKU logos, not only the ones in the examples below.

What items can I use the EKU logo on?

We’ve received some wonderful ideas in the past for products bearing the EKU logo, but on some items, EKU restricts the use of the logo and wordmark. EKU restricts the use of its logos on some products, such as items associated with alcohol use, weaponry, drug paraphernalia, or other such items. In general, the EKU logo is permitted on apparel, printed material and websites associated with student success and retention.

Can I create an EKU official account on social media?

You can, but we request that you contact the Department of Communications and Brand Management first so we can work with you to ensure the social media account is successful for both your department and the University. • Will you regularly provide content updates?
